Loksangraha in Management

Saktaah karmanyavidwaamso yathaa kurvanti bhaarata;
Kuryaad vidwaam stathaa saktash chikeershur lokasangraham.

Chapter III Verse 25 Bhagvaat Gita

As the ignorant men act from attachment to action, O Bharata (Arjuna), so should the wise act without attachment, wishing the welfare of the world!

The main teaching of Geeta is based on this cardinal principle of loka sangraha (welfare of the mass). Sri Krishna mentions that ignorant man acts out of attachment .

The modern economic principle, which is promoted by Adam Smith is rooted on this attachment. Smiths philosophy of PCD – Profit , Competition and Self Interest not only ask attachment in work ,but also goes on creating more attachments.

In contrary ,the economic principles of lok sangraha lies at the root of all business houses. Because, business is after all a system of production and distribution of material goods and services with an aim to serve the needs of man. Though the Global financial crisis shows that often business overlook this ideal and create problem for themselves.

The root of the financial crisis is the lack of faith of people in the Business and financial system . That crisis could not be solved totally ,until unless this faith is restored . Stimulus can only help to give a good wrapper of faith . It cannot bring back the real faith. Only business done on the spirit of Loksangraha can bring back the real faith.

The goodwill of the masses, lies at the heart of phenomenal rise of any business house, starting from the chief executive officer down to the workers, all should work in a spirit of lok sangraha so that their company will thrive and prosper. This principles apply both in microeconomic and macroeconomic context.

Kabilaa - The Tribe of Transformation

Aaditya Gupta and Sandeep Srivastava have been together since there MBA days, and then also prepared for civil services together . From those days they have wanted to do something positive, for the society with they being change agents.Search for doing something positive lead them to Kabilaa - the tribe of transformation.

Speaking about 'Kabilaa' - 'The Tribe of Transformation' with Sandeep Srivastava and Aaditya Gupta, Co-Founders of Kabilaa.

1.Why did you started this organization? When did you started it ?

We found that there are three segments in India which can help us to improve social sector.

Number One is corporate sector. We think Corporate World is so powerful & resourceful, which it has not been earlier in Indian history.

Number Two; Non Governmental Organisation. There are number of NGOs which are working across the country. They are the link to hoi polloi.

Third One is youth: the percentage of india is very large and unprecedented. This is the right time when they can stop complaining & stand up to do something for country.

We realize that we need to connect all three & work towards our social goals.

Today’s youth is web oriented and in our zeal to bring about change in action and thinking kabilaa.com seemed to be the perfect step to take.

As for as Internet is boon for man kind. We believe that integration of technology in social sector is inevitable.

We started this website in October 2008.

2. You have a very interesting name – ‘Kabilaa’ ? What does it mean ?

Kabilaa signifies tribe or a group of people .Human being are living in groups and families from years. As a group first they establish village then town and then move forward to nation. The purpose is to live together happily and peacefully.

Though, in present we are settled in one place but problem still arises, and we are trying to do away with those problems. we want our website to be platform where we bring together Youth, NGOs and Corporate to be a part of kabilaa working towards improving the condition of society, environment and bringing desired changes.

3. You also have a very interesting message – “knocking for
revolution ? What kind of revolution you are looking ahead ?

First of all, I want to be clear what does revolution mean?? Revolution always carries a negative connotation. For both of us,Revolution mean that the present order of things, which must change. For that,We want social responsibility to be ingrained in their daily routine.

4. What is the role which are youth are not playing now and
which your organization would help them to play?

Youth are very conscious of various sensitive issues but majority of them are unaware of how they can contribute, wherein we step them and provide them a platform to work with various NGOs working for various causes. We have section like” Idea lab” where people can submit their ideas & if that ideas are feasible we would like to bring investors for them. We believe that india has best brain but they are not getting opportunity. We are trying to provide them platform to execute those ideas which can impact a large number of people.

5. What do you plan to do in CSR spectrum?

We will be working with companies, which are espousing various social and environmental causes and promoting their work through our website www.kabilaa.com among the youth members of our website, thus enabling alteration of viewpoints and creation of strong affiliations.

6. What would be your NGO activities ?

In our segment of NGO activities we aim to promote collaborations between NGOs and companies for various causes they are espousing under their CSR mandate. We through our website intend to bring together youth, NGOs and companies on a common platform to work for various causes and we firmly believe that its going to be a win-win proposition for all.

With them, We will soon start programme “DO GOOD FOR DEBT.”

We would like here students above 18 & person who are jobless to join us & pay their debt by doing social work for six months. For this, those people have to match with organization/company interested in sponsoring them to do social work. After that they have to choose one NGO from listed NGO's with us.We are in talk in these ,with companies & Non-governmental organization.

7. What is your target audience and what are you looking ahead from them?

Our target audience in 1st stage will be primarily the youth and corporates. Primarily we aim to target the youth willing to come and work with us. We are looking for a commitment towards a better tomorrow wherein they are the primary agents working towards achieving it.

Safe Shelter in Stormy Weather of Global Financial Crisis

Who doesn't need a safe shelter in the stormy weather of Global Financial Crisis ?

When money doesn't provide the much coveted security . A Even mind does which is unaffected by success and failure.

Yogasthah kuru karmaani sangam tyaktwaa dhananjaya;
Siddhyasiddhyoh samo bhootwaa samatwam yoga uchyate.

Perform action, O Arjuna, being steadfast in Yoga, abandoning attachment and balanced in success and failure! Evenness of mind is called Yoga.

The age old lessons have become more important in the context of present crisis .

Indian school of Political and Economic thought, has always emphasized, in this principle of mind, and they have attained the requisite prosperity and abundance always .

When entrepreneurs and businessman, World Wide is facing the heat of Global financial crisis , I do think, this the best attitude to practice ,in order to have a safe journey through the Global financial crisis , with maintaining the mind in a very stable position .

"There is nothing more powerful than a idea whose time has come " says Victor Hugo.

Lord Krishna had given the message of Gita, when a Arjuna (Who was perfect warrior) was in a deep crisis on his life . The message was so strong, that people around the World , find it meaningful whenever they face any individual crisis.

For 3500 years the collective had got inspiration, from this message individually , whenever they have faced a crisis .

Can the collective get the same inspiration, from the same message collectively when facing the Global financial crisis ?

Are we Sun-ready ? An Interview with Surya Green, Writer-Journalist, and Inspirer-Founder of non-profit foundation Sun Conscious.org

“Modern science has accumulated a treasure house of scientific knowledge about the Sun. Advocates of ‘renewable’ or ‘sustainable’ energy, also now called ‘green energy,’ have long recognized the Sun’s great positive influence on earthly society. Energy entrepreneurs with environment-friendly technologies are enabling more people and nations to access clean and safe solar power. Yet most people, including renewable energy pioneers, are not yet acquainted with that energy of the Sun which is even mightier than "green solar power”: the Sun's subtle energy.

Sun Conscious is a non-profit planetary service foundation, established in 2000 by legal statute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to promote the use of solar energy of both physical and subtle levels. Sun Conscious is working towards the Global Age of the Sun, an age in which the global use of solar energy, in the form of heat, light, wind, and wave, will be complemented by global attunement with the Sun’s subtle energy. The subtle energy of our Sun has the power to inspire, uplift, and transform human consciousness and behavior. Sun Conscious came into being through the efforts of solar pioneer Surya Green and a small circle of Dutch people inspired by her Sun-vision.

Surya Green completed her formal education with a B.A. from New York’s Barnard College of Columbia University and an M.A. in Communication from California’s Stanford University. In India she spontaneously received a “post-graduate degree in sacred knowledge,” so to speak.

The Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, invited Surya to India in her function as a professional writer-journalist. After finishing her journalistic assignment for a Dutch travel magazine she -- then still called by her birth name Norma -- stayed on longer in the land of ancient solar heritage. During her independent travels, without warning she underwent mystical experiences with the Sun. She experienced, from within, that all is truly One under the Sun. The inner discovery of the Sun’s powerful energy of subtle level dramatically, and authentically, transformed her life forever. She became “Sun-conscious.” Norma was reborn as Surya, Sanskrit for “the originator; the Sun, the Source.”

By the time she returned to her writing home in Amsterdam, Surya was a transformed person both inside and out. A transition period followed as she integrated her solarized vision into her daily functioning. She wrote farewell letters to the magazines she represented as Holland correspondent and resigned from the Foreign Press Association. Her new career as a “journalist of the spiritual” began when a Dutch journal asked her to write about her personal meeting in India with the Mother of Pondicherry, the French-Indian spiritual leader.

In line with her new writing focus, one by one Surya met and interviewed leading spiritual personages who gave themselves generously to her tape recorder, camera, and notebook. Before long her interviews and articles on spiritual themes appeared in magazines, newspapers, and journals in Europe, USA, and Australia. After traveling to Stockholm to attend events held in connection with the world’s first international environmental conference, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, she had also started publishing transformational articles on the up-and-coming socially-responsible people-and-planet friendly lifestyle. Surya Green is a member of three professional writers’ organizations -- Dutch Association of Journalists, International Federation of Journalists, and the Society of Authors, UK.

Surya lived for six years in Asia as a pilgrim with journalistic shoulder bag. She gained knowledge of Eastern lifestyles, religions, philosophies, and consciousness-raising systems not through book learning but by everyday practice. During this period she interviewed and spent time with a broad range of social, cultural, and spiritual leaders and visionaries from all backgrounds and attainments. Their wealth of wisdom, along with her own inner discoveries, she continued to share with the readers of her magazine articles.

Finally Surya Green was ready to speak publicly about the wider identity of the Sun. To share her transformational experiences, she wrote the book The Call of the Sun, published by Element Books of UK/USA/Australia. After publication of the Dutch edition (Als de Zon spreekt, Uitgeverij De Ster, the Netherlands), Surya and five of her Dutch readers established the non-profit foundation Sun Conscious.

Since its founding, Sun Conscious has carried out diverse activities which include: distributing Surya Green’s books introducing Sun-consciousness, offering the website www.SunConscious.org, writing public service reports and articles on socially-and-spiritually responsible issues including renewable energy and socially responsible entrepreneurship, organizing educational gatherings on Sun-knowledge and socially-and-spiritually responsible lifestyle, participating in Sun-related gatherings and events, organizing cultural-educational visits to Sun-related people, places, and events; and offering public talks, seminars, and retreats on the Sun’s subtle energy.”

1.Do we think we are moving towards a solar society where we will depend more on energy sources above then energy sources below?

“’From below to above’ is in line with the evolutionary movement from dense to subtle, from darkness to light.”

2.Can solar energy solution give an alternative profitable solution vis-à-vis fossil fuel?

“Against the backdrop of accumulating environmental pollution, the alarming rise of the global temperature, oil supplies used as a main fuel for war, and worldwide poverty and inequality, a strategic element in any international effort aimed to bring planet Earth back into balance is green energy. The need to reduce the use of fossil fuel energy and carbon dioxide emissions has never been greater.

Over the years it has become clear that the cleanest, most sustainable, and least politically sensitive energy source to meet humanity's future energy needs is solar. Solar energy encompasses a range of technologies that include: photovoltaics, solar hot water and air systems, passive solar, solar hydrogen, and forms of solar such as wind and wave.

More and more scientists as well as lay people are optimistic about the future of solar, especially solar electricity. Increasing numbers of people believe that the transformation of solar light into electricity is the key technology for durable energy in the 21st century even while the efficiency of solar panels needs to be increased and prices brought down. Solar panels contain photovoltaic cells that turn light into electricity without releasing any greenhouse gases.

According to “Solar Generation IV,” a report released by Greenpeace in 2007, solar energy produced by photovoltaic cells can meet the energy needs of more than 3.5 billion people around the globe by 2030. Further, solar electricity can deliver more than six million jobs worldwide. These are only two of the positive conclusions contained in the report brought out jointly by Greenpeace and the European Phovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA). The report describes the enormous potential of solar electricity and presents a practical blueprint for realizing that potential.

As Solar Generation IV points out: the aware¬ness of renewable energy has never been so great. This awareness has been triggered by a number of landmark events. These include the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which warned more strongly than ever about the drastic consequences of climate change. The Stern Report of 2006 pointed out that every dollar invested in climate change mitigation will pay off by avoiding more drastic negative economic impacts at a later stage. The European Commission has put forward an ambitious target for 20% renewable energy in Europe’s overall energy mix by 2020, and the USA and other countries have also started to green their energy policies.”

3. Can implementation of solar economy solve the present global financial crisis? What are your views on these?

“A solar economy would help solve some of the social problems we humans have created in this current age. The increased use of solar energy, which in principle is available to all, can help remove some of the inequalities at the root of many conflicts in the world today.

But the global community needs more than solely the implementation of a solar economy. The present financial crisis seems not to be just a temporary downturn we are undergoing en route to a new upturn. The present financial crisis seems, in fact, not to be a “crisis” at all but a total collapse.

We are witnessing the end of an old, unfair, and unjust social order which grew up out of long-term human greed and selfishness. What is required is not only a solar economy and the rebalancing of power that a solar civilization will bring, but the growth of awareness among human beings that we are all traveling together on an evolutionary spiritual journey called Life.

To reverse the current downhill trend that is evident on various levels, including economic, environmental, and moral, we all have to become aware that humanity needs a more just, fair, and spiritual way of living together on planet Earth. Humanity will be wise to embrace a more natural and simple lifestyle based on caring and sharing. In short, we need to simplify our lives, learn to share, and remember our mutual spiritual source and destination.”

Are you ‘linked inside’ or just ‘LinkedIn’ ?

‘LinkedIn’ has now 50 million user . People discuss ,play with words and talk about jobs and meet new people.

I had found, in some of my friends, have only 2 connection, and other have 2000 . I, often receive request of connection. Sometimes, I feel compelled to accept it, and sometimes I don’t.

Years ago , I had an passion to be clinged with , some or other spiritual community . They made a lot of sense to me. They talk differently , smile differently, and sometimes they also reinforce some of there values, in there actions, which they talk.

But, then when I went deep within them, I found that these entire behavior is only limited to the spheres of community. Sometimes not that also. So, these all thoughts, are good way to network in the community, and stay connected. This people live on different values, when it come to there practical life. They are those same old guys , only these time they come with better make ups, and might be a better quality mask, as good as ‘face off’ and armed with there expertise, on quoting and referencing words from scriptures, or certain masters here and there . It’s just how you put the message, and start networkworking.

LinkedIn has a popular catchy message ‘Are you LinkedIn’ ? … and there are spiritual groups in real life, ‘which says are you linked inside’ ? But in reality, they both stand in same boat. They equally live disconnected, from each other , with having a volumes of connection . It is always possible, to have volumes of connection , but stay completely disconnected, being busy with the ritual of building connection .

We all have dream of a true spiritual community of real friends, who listened to each other's personal tragedies, without merely trying to fix the problems, who encouraged and nurtured each other's strengths, and who accepted people, for who they really are, instead of the image they try to portray.

In today's frenetic society, people rarely develop this kind of intimate friendships. Instead, they spend their lives essentially disconnected, from others, rushing through life content, with brief visits and casual conversations.

But what if one were to develop a community, a spiritual community, of people who walked with, and supported each other through life's journey?.

What if .. there is no constant ‘spiritual peer pressure’ of perfection, from the people who thinks themselves more perfect towards the people whom they conceive as less perfect, due to there mastery of certain words of the master . As because you know some words in a better way and can present in fine verses, do you get the Unlimited free pass, to humiliate anybody, and make fun of everybody ?

What makes a spiritual community really spiritual , and different from an academic community, where ideological wars are more frequent and compassion and sharing is ‘Hebrew’ ?

Hasn’t God made any safest place in the earth, where we are allowed to become imperfect. Where he should take care of us , and heal us from imperfection to perfection?

If you say to God , your future plans, he makes big laugh of you always.

Don’t you think , its fair for him , to just give a place , for this funny ,imperfect people, that they atleast could have not ‘big roads’ but some ‘small lanes’ to towards salvation also ?. ‘Big roads’ could be for the intelligent and the learned once.

What makes a community spiritual and what makes it unspiritual…..

Now ,I have stopped my search for spiritual communities . Because I have started understanding that there is nothing call spiritual community . The most spiritual community can have all those characteristics of ideological wars , faceoffs , masking , trying to become self appointed prophesier, and so much more describing those could make so much loss of bandwith and whitespace .

On Contrary, you can find a true spiritual moment from staying those people who doesn’t have tagline of spirituality behind them , who are not into a following of a great master, and don’t read his master to quote master here and there and often make a fun of people who can’t do it .

They are just simple prayful people, who stands up to support others. They don’t have nice cars ,glowing faces , and great words . However , there eyes tells me , that they accept me as I am.

I stopped my search not because I didn’t find , or neither because I find somebody. But because I found this is a way , God is teasing me . “ “Here are you are .. around the world !!! in you search of ideal spiritual community , which stays just next door to you “

“You see .. I am such stupid , ignorant person” . Everytime God , makes it a point to prove it .

Now ,I feel blessed to be stupid and ignorant . Atleast I can see, how God works to prove that it is true.

That’s how the journey from ‘Linkedin’ and ‘linked inside’ is both simple and complex. It brings you to the source .

Monastic , Non monastic , Spiritual, Social ,New age, Industrial .. you can be either linkedin or linked inside . That’s what matters . The tagline doesn’t matters.
